DID ATOM ARAULLO EVER CONSIDER FULL-TIME ACTING? JOURNALIST ANSWERS

Atom Araullo revealed that he used to be interested in being a full-time actor, but he didn't have the chance to explore it more after his studies.

In the latest episode of "Surprise Guest with Pia Arcangel," which marked the podcast's 100th episode, the Kapuso journalist recalled being invited to audition for a TV series when he was in high school.

"I don't recall which particular one. Pero, kahit noon, naka-feel ako ng discomfort," Atom said.

"Maniwala kayo at sa hindi, mahiyain talaga akong tao eh," he added. "'Yung idea of acting, although I had some experience when I was a kid, parang na-o-overwhem ako."

Atom also said that just by seeing the day-to-day lives of actors, he felt like he couldn't handle it.

"When it came to decision time [of whether or not I'd pursue acting], I didn't want to stop studying," he said. "Kasi feeling ko baka umabot sa ganu'ng point na kailangan kong pumili between doing a show and finishing my studies."

"So, sabi ko, kung talagang ito ang gusto kong gawin, baka kahit after college na lang. Pero hindi na rin ako ever bumalik," he added.

In the same podcast episode, Atom revealed that he used to be the "torpe" type back in college. He also admitted that he never had a girlfriend in college because aside from being "torpe," he was busy with his academics.

Atom's documentary show, "The Atom Araullo Specials," took home two awards at the New York Festivals 2024. "Child's Game" won gold in the documentary: social justice category and "One Deep Breath" won silver in the documentary: human concerns category.
